The art of cooking - Culinary Art and the vocab. - CILANTRO


Nak cerita pasal skil memasak ni... memang aku tergolong dlm golongan yg tak tau memasak... mana tak nya start memasak hanya masa dah masuk uni.. itupun sebb terjebak dalam ko-kurikulum pakaian seragam yg memerlukan we all masuk hutan dan memasak sendiri makanan.. dan waktu itu hanyalah tau masak sardin, masak nasi, mee maggie dan air.. bolehla kan..

sebagai anak bongsu dan ada kakak2 jadi priority nak bljr atau menolong kat dapur tu mmg tak ada dlm kamus hidup.. yg tau.. celik je mata pegi kuar main kat rumah org dah gelap/magrib baru balik rumah... padan muka kau.. dah besar malu tak tau masak..

Tapi nasib baik jugak lah kan.. dah besar tu boleh la masak sendiri.. pandai dah nak goreng nasik, goreng sambal, sambal tumis, dan mencuba resipi2 sendiri..

So dah besar ni baru nak kenal mana daun bawang, daun parsli, daun sup, daun ketumbar.. w/pun mmg selalu confuse daun2 ni.. dan ada satu lg nama yg sama 'CILANTRO' ... apa kejadahnya benda ni.. rupanya sama je dgn daun ketumbar/parsley/corriander leaves.. bijinya dipanggil corriander seeds (biji ketumbar yg org Melayu guna sebagai rempah ratus tu)...

Food For Thought This Week - Mango and Tomato Salsa

Sapa suka buah mangga? Angkat tangan.. (Saya!)...
Tomato? ..ni bukan buah la.. sayur. (ye ke.. sayur ke buah?).. hmm tak suka sangat kalau makan raw.. tp ok ler sekali sekala just for the sake of the nutritient.. konon nak bg kulit licin..



For those yg nak try resipi 'diet' snack pd waktu2 petang bleh la try.. or for lunch (aku tak boleh for lunch mkn ni jer.. rasa mcm tak puas melainkan ada bread and soup)..

This is a tangy, fruity and refreshing salsa that goes well with fish, chicken or meat.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutesIngredients:
•2 small mangoes, diced
•2 plum tomatoes, seeded and diced
•1/2 cup sweet onion
•1 jalapeno pepper
•1/3 cup chopped cilantro
•Juice of 1 lime

Preparation:
Combine chopped mangoes, tomatoes, onion, jalapeno and cilantro in a medium bowl. Squeeze two halves of a small lime over the bowl. Toss and allow to stand until ready to serve.
Serves 6.

Per Serving: Calories 73, Calories from Fat 3, Total Fat 0.3g (sat 0g), Cholesterol 0mg, Sodium 6mg, Carbohydrate 16.6g, Fiber 2.1g, Protein 1g

p/s: I add olive oil in the recipe. I pakai black pepper instead of jalapeno.. Cilantro (daun sup/parsli) tak pakai pun tak pe.

Thought: Boleh makan tomato lebih byk dgn resipi ni compare kalau nak makan buah tomato tu saja.

Master Chef on Saturday

Hai gaji.. naper la bulan ni rasa lama sangat nak 31hb... Dpt plak company yang bayar gaji kalau dlm bulan tu ada 40 hari..40hbla baru dapat.. peti ais ku dah kosong.. yang ada hanya ikan sardin, daging burger, telur, fish ball, fries dan ikan dori..ayam, daging, sotong, udang semua dah habis..

So our chef menu for today are:

Breakfast : Mood - sangat malas. Bangun pun Subuh hampir nak habis.. apa nak jadi.. So, hanya nasi lemak + sambal Ikan Bilis + ikan bilis goreng + telur rebus.

Lunch : lambat skit.. sebb mkn nasik lemak dah kenyang.. so lunch budget kul 3.. Fish and Chips with white sauce and carrot soup.... Carrot soup? first time nak buat ni... harus di makan waktu lapar.. sebab dah budget the dish will be not too toothsome utk tekak org2 rmh ni yang tak berapa western sangat mcm I :)

Dinner: tak payah pikey..going to visit in laws so, dinner is free... jimat RM50.. haha...

cakap pasal Master Chef... tercabar betul tengok Junir Masterchef Australia tu... kecik2 dah pandai culinary cooking... kita baru terhegeh2 nak belajar macam mana nak buat white sauce ;-)
